Biography

“A copywriter should have an understanding of people, an insight into them, a sympathy toward them.” – George Gribbin

1983

Born in Amarillo, Texas, to Mary – who had just resigned from her run of being a ride supervisor (carnie) on the west coast…in order to provide a life of stability and normality for me in my formative years.

1989

Mom marries and we move, as a family, to New Jersey … where I am an avid skier – and begin my reign as school spelling bee champion. Due to a technical loophole, was eligible to tryout for the competitive soccer team, traditionally an “all boys” team…the Wildcats. Wild…I am, again, a Wildcat…as a student at The University of Arizona!

1993

We move to Albrightsville, Pennsylvania – near the Poconos. I am an A student – in Gifted & Talented Program … and thought that EVERYONE was required to take an IQ test multiple times a year. Studied telecommunications and the stock market in the G&T program, given the liberty to self pace standard curriculum without bridling on account of anything other than my own comprehension of material.

1996

Returned to Mesquite, Texas, a volleyball and track athlete … spelling bee winner … and launched a several year stretch of PSAT prep and testing as a part of the Duke Talent Identification Program … anticipated to score in the top percentile of the SATs, once the time came.

Sticks and Stones

From the time I was in 3rd grade, my objective in adulthood was to become an attorney. Although my understanding of just how powerful words and their use can be was a fraction (of a fraction, of a fraction) of the reality of that capability, my catalytic appreciation for, and customary use of, a broad vocabulary and refined writing style was effortless. Years ago, it was said that people are “left” or “right” brained … and one characteristically is math minded and the other literature minded. It made sense then … and still does, to me…so much that I have never fact checked it. The resonation was enough. I was president of our Speech and Debate team, my senior year…and was in the top 10% of my class of approximately 447 students. Sometime around March 28, of my senior year, I withdrew and enrolled in the Mesquite Academy to insure my completion of high school. At the start of my senior year, I was only in need of English 4 in order to graduate, I found out. I had a FULL schedule at my original high school…”unnecessarily”. Nonetheless, I found liberation in newfound adulthood and the less conventional arena of the world, that attending a self paced program for one course proved to be an inconvenience. Fast forward a year, and I learn that I am pregnant with my son, Bryce…and immediately called the Academy to confirm my enrollment and coordinate completion of the needed credit in order to graduate. I mean, I couldn’t become a MOM and not have a DIPLOMA!? Fortunately, the work that WAS on record was still valid. Had I waited an additional two weeks, I would have started ALL over. I graduated in a day and a half once I applied myself <insert eyeroll>. The next 2 decades were a colorful combination of real estate, corporate America, entrepreneurship, sub par realm of society mingling, uptown Dallas networking, motherhood to two amazing humans (my daughter, Victoria, entering this world 2 years after her brother), Alcoholics Anonymous, heartbreak, heartache, hurt, amazement and blessings.
When I saw the movie “Lucy”, starring Scarlett Johannsen, her character resonated with me deeply. The nonconsensual ingestion and absorption of the substance implanted in her that is responsible for the mental amplification and unleashing she experiences in the movie correlated with the unconventional and societally condemned experiences I had that were monumental in the profound and pivotal paradigm shifts had…that made valuable impact on me and my world. Some of the most intelligent, kind, generous and STRONG people I have ever met were in the “game” or came from it. Whereas, some of the most ignorant and pompous … useless people I have ever met had no association, to the best of my knowledge, with anything of the sort. Lucy experiences a rapid and unwavering transformation of an unbridled enhancement of her abilities – physically and mentally – throughout the movie. Before the age of podcasts, vlogs, and the age of “influencers” … I was eager to launch a blog … and create content under the alias of “Lucy” for anonymity. With reservations regarding the likelihood that persons of interest in the content shared (exposing corruptions – and conveying the impact made on EVERYONE – without identifying said POIs) could take offense to the light shed on the reality of the illusion crafted and desperately maintained by the “powers that be”, I felt my anonymity was a wise precautionary measure to take to avoid retaliation at a level I was not interested in facing. Ultimately, my objective was to bridge the void of ignorance and light the fire of responsibility and moral obligation of society to demand act right out of those who parade our population under the guise of superior “do gooders” as providers of protection of the simpleton “do gooders”…with the utilization of the pen, per se.
